The addiction, what preceded it, the recovery, and the impetus for the recovery (which I’m curious about and I think is likely more important than being 100% committed to recovery in the first place) are maybe about being “stuck” and getting “unstuck”, respectively. Perhaps it’s as simple (I know, nothing is really simple) as life being about growth. And, if you’re stuck, you’re not growing. This notion kind of allows for grace should one relapse…if we make a mistake - and we all do - and we learn from it, we’re growing so it will be okay. This is what we teach children.
Anyway, I’ve read this entry a couple of times because the hope shines out. You’re turning the pages and it makes me feel happy too…
PS likewise with the breathing - don’t just hold it in; remember to exhale - ha!
Another wonderfully written piece! Thank you for your courage in sharing your journey!
What a sweet comment. Thanks!
Man. This is real. Still, there is always a humorous thought or turn of phrase. I am getting spoiled to read much of anything else.

There's a lot of wisdom and compassion to unpack here. Thank you so much.
I also like the idea of allowing oneself grace...
